Pondering A Question

William Hazen, left, and Philip Hubbard of the Gremlin Patrol of Boy Scout Troop 9 in Chapel Hill, work on the written test for a merit badge in orienteering during the Orange District Boy Scout Camporee last weekend at Camp Reeves in Moore County. Nearly 100 scout and adult leaders from seven troops took part. To get their merit badges in orienteering, scouts had to cover a cross-country course guided by map and compass only.

Papers and More Papers PAPERS AND MORE PAPERS- Scoutmaster Jim Coke and an assistant stack papers collected in last week's newspaper recycling drive. The drive, sponsored by the Joint Action Council on Recycling, is scheduled to run for 12 more weeks. Each Sunday, papers will be collected at four locations- Sears at Eastgate, the Glen Lennox Shopping. Center, Central Carolina Bank at University Square, and Byrd's in Carrboro. The Council asks that only newspapers be brought and that they be unbundled.
