Summer Camp
Camp Raven Knob
Boy Scout Troop 9
20 - 26 June 1999
Description

Summer camp will be a week at the Old Hickory Councilís Camp Raven Knob near Mount Airy, NC. Program includes merit badge classes in the aquatics, ecology, conservation, handicrafts, scoutcraft, shooting sports, and health groups, as well as basic scouting work in Tenderfoot through First Class. Camping is done in platform mounted wall tents. Food is provided in the camp dining hall. The camp fee is $150 for the week with the troop, $160 for provisional weeks.

Registration

A verbal commitment to the Scoutmaster or Transportation Chair is sufficient. Course preregistration will be completed at troop meetings. A $60 preregistration fee is due by 25 May. The remaining $90 of the registration fee is needed before departure for camp. Scholarships are available as needed. Copies of the Provisional Registration Form are available from the Scoutmaster.

Medical Form

A scout medical form is needed with parentís section current within twelve months and physicianís section current within thirty-six months. Last yearís forms can be picked up from the Scoutmaster for update. New forms are also available.

Parents in Attendance

Help is needed during the week. We need two adults in camp from Sunday evening through Saturday morning. Moms are welcome by the troop; however, the camp is less than convenient for women. For practical purposes dads need to sign up for this duty. The coverage needed is to oversee the boys in the troopís camp site, to assist them with scheduling (tell ëem itís time to go to their nine oíclock class), and to see that they get to group activities (meals and two camp fires). Please let the Scoutmaster know your schedule.
