Parron Farm Campout, Clayton, NC
15 - 16 November, 1997
Boy Scout Troop 9
This is the description of an overnight, weekend trip to a farm outside
Clayton. The weekend will include a day hike and will focus on advancement,
including map and compass work. Come prepared for a light day hike. Bring
pencil, paper, and compass. There will be a field for wide games. Bring
frisbees or soccer balls.
Schedule.
Saturday 11/15 8:00 a.m. Depart from Chapel of the Cross
Saturday 11/15 10:00 a.m. Meet at the Parronís Farm
Sunday 11/16 1:00 p.m. Depart for Chapel Hill
2:30 p.m. Arrive in Chapel Hill, Chapel of the Cross
Messages and Emergency Contact.
Telephone messages for pickup after the trip and before the troop starts
home may be left by calling 933-1969.
A status message including the times that the troop starts for home and
expects to arrive may be heard by calling 933-1969.
Personal Equipment.
See the troop's personal equipment list for details. Assume extremes of
weather; i.e., pack clothes for 20 deg.F. to 85 deg.F.
Food and Group Equipment.
Food (except Saturday lunch) and equipment will be arranged by patrols
at the troop meetings. Pack a bag lunch for Saturday.
Driving Route.
Estimated travel time is approximately an hour and a half from Chapel Hill.
I-40 East to US 70 East, south of Raleigh and Garner.
In Clayton, take NC 42 East.
Beware, NC 42 East, is about a mile South of NC 42
West.
Travel 5.3 miles to Buffalo Rd & turn right.
For a landmark, look for Flower's Grocery store on
the North East corner.
Continue on Buffalo Rd 2.5 miles to River Dell Rd.
This is a small, private, easy-to-miss gravel road.
Turn right, and go to the end of the road, about 1 mile.
The Gate should be open.
Water.
Tap water is available at the camp site.
