Eagle ProjectEAGLE PROJECT
Purpose of the project was to plant treas that were donated by members
of the United Presbyterian Church of Pleasanton. These trees were to be
planted for shade and landscape purposes at the Mirador site, future
site of the church.
I called Howard Neely and Mr. Charles Maxson, Building and grounds
Committee, to find out details on the project. After I went to the site
with a blueprint of the lot and of the already planted trees I had to
determine the best location for the trees. Some trees were to be used
as replacements for trees that had died. I then put stakes marking each
spot with what type of tree was to go where, and than got in touch with
Mr. Maxson to go to the site and locate each tree. When I got the
okay to pl~ant the trees, I arranged to have 12 boys from my troop to
be at the site with tools by 9::00 on Saturday, April 2nd to help in
the planting of the treas.
I then bought three bags of redwood compost and got fertilizer tablets
donated by Mr. Maestas, member of the church. On this Saturday eight
boys and I planted 18 trees -- 6 redwoods, 1 spruce and 11 cedar which
we had hauled to the site that morning. We watered the trees that day
and twice more on about two and a half weeks following the planting.
