TROOP 9 IS BACK!

After a very successful Summer Camp in June, a break in July, and a spectacular trip through the Shenandoah Mountains in August, we are ready to begin our 95 - 96 program. Weekly troop meetings resume on Tuesday 29 August. Meetings are from 7:30 until 9:00 p.m. in the basement of the Chapel of the Cross.

PACK UP FOR NEW HIKING ADVENTURES  HikeThe troop's calendar for 1995 - 1996 includes an exciting series of camping trips. The draft calendar, copy attached, will be finalized at the Troop Committee's first meeting on 21 September. The fall schedule gets off to a rapid start with a Court of Honor to recognize achievements over the summer, an camping trip to the Lloyd's farm, and a council camporee. Other trips for the year  include a stretch of the Appalachian Trail from Carvers Gap to Highway 1 9E, a trip to Mount Rogers, Virginia, and, for second year or more scouts, a fifty mile, week long hike from the Georgia state line to the Nantahala River.

ATTENTION PARENTS! Parent participation really makes a difference. All parents are encouraged to attend Troop committee meetings which will be held on the third Thursday of each month, in the youth room at the Chapel of the Cross. The first meeting for this year will be 21 September. If you have suggestions or questions please share those with us as we develop final plans for the fall and spring activities. If you have questions or comments on other aspects of troop operation, please talk to a committee member or a member of the adult troop staff; better yet, come to the meeting.
