    1. The following adults earned Troop 9 bolos:

                                               i.     Brian Harry: Green Bolo

                                             ii.     Marsha Pate: Black Bolo

                                            iii.     Ralph Wolf: Black Bolo

                                            iv.     Matt Czhakowski: Black Bolo

    1. Training

                                               i.     Derek Rodriguez and Andy Pate received New Leaders Essentials Training October 6

                                             ii.     Troop Committee training dates will be scheduled in the near future

                                            iii.     Assistant Scoutmaster Training will be scheduled in the near future

                                            iv.     Merit Badge Counselor Training will be held Monday, November 3rd at 6:30 PM at Sunrise Church off of New Hope Church Road.

                                               i.     Dan Pelletier has agreed to serve as Troop Resource Coordinator

                                             ii.     Derek Rodriguez has agreed to serve as Troop Outings Coordinator

                                            iii.     Brian Harry has agreed to serve as Troop Quartermaster Coordinator

    1. No Cotton Document

                                               i.     Gregg asks all parents to read the ÒNo Cotton DocumentÓ on the troop web site. The document explains the importance of sending kids camping without only cotton clothing. Polyester is the best clothing for camping.

    1. Recent Activities

                                               i.     Kerr Lake camping trip was a big success with many scouts earning all or part of canoeing merit badge

                                             ii.     Court of Honor was a nice event; thanks to Marsha Pate for setting up the reception

                                            iii.     The road to physical fitness merit badge continues with biweekly meetings on Sunday afternoon. This group has already completed the Tenderfoot physical fitness requirement. Thanks to Greg Cordell for leading this effort.

                                            iv.     Family back packing trip to Hanging Rock. There was some discussion regarding this trip. The key was to balance the boysÕ independence, a cornerstone of boy scouts, and the familyÕs desire to interact as a family during the trip. In the future, consideration will be given to a meal or activity where families and scouts participate together.

    1. Upcoming Events

                                               i.     November 14-16, Bike camping trip

                                             ii.     Bring bicycles to the troop meeting November 4th for bicycle inspection.

                                            iii.     A suggestion was made to depart for camping trips from Cedar Falls Park. This may be safer than Timberline Shopping Center.

  1. Budget
    1. Troop equipment will be purchased in the near future. Approved amount for the year is $1500.
    2. Greg will remind Brian Harry will have the fall purchase pre-approved by Lisa R
    3. Current Balance is $805.81
    4. About ½ o the boys dues are yet to be collected (Please submit by Friday, October 31st)

    1. The Troop release of information waiver, including release of the scoutÕs likeness, is being updated to move the language for the release above the area for parental signature.
    2. All but a few have been executed and / or notarized, and as this is important, parents are asked to completed
    3. Hard copies will be available at the next parent meeting for approval
