Committee Action Summary
A motion was taken to accept Gregg Gerdau's changes for centennial award.  A vote was taken and passed.

Further Notes:
Treasurer report - balance of $2280

Quality unit award -
Gregg Gerdau checked into the award.  Lucas Neas was here and we asked some questions.  Suggestive wording was difficult - "progress towards rank with some percentage".    Gregg will have final changes necessary and applicable for our troop.  Need this to move forward with award, otherwise could have been shut out.

Weekly program - George is planning orienteering course soon at John Risk's place.

Recruiting -
Gregg Gerdau handling for moment.  Good success with (2) new scouts so far.  Bringing in visitors.
Reading from agenda items associated with recruiting.

Building likely to be torn down at some point.

Ben Hock will be elected SPL.  James will be asst.

Gregg Gerdau - Trips and Activities

Webelos Day hike - 9 visitors.  4 have joined other troops.  4 others are undecided.
  1. Caving trip delayed due to illness, will be rescheduled for March.
  2. March 24 canoe trip - couldn't get island, but it is scheduled for March 30-31.  Need drivers for boats, etc.
  3. March 27 will be patrol leaders council.  Planning for next month.  Will occur on Tuesday night at regular meeting.
  4. ABC sale - Apr 21
  5. Apr 28-29 - Camporee at orange county speedway.  T9 will be leading "A Scout's Own" service on Sunday.

Need approval on Centennial Quality Unit award, adding to agenda.  Prospective program.  Want to have 3 years worth of awards.  Need to commit to 6 things

  1. Certain % of direct contact leaders complete basic leader training for their positions. (50%, 50%)  (council percentage is 76%)
  2. Retain 50% of members and actively recruit new members.  Recharter on time.
  3. One new active adult
  4. Minimum # of scouts advance in rank, 60%.  We're adjusting this because we have a lot of older scouts.  Change to all of our boys have achievement towards rank
  5.
  6. Annual planning program
  7. Good financial shape
  8. Visit from unit commissioner
  9. Support FOS
  10. Support annual product sale.

Some interpretation on some lines is that the lines are feedback to council on how district is doing?

Motion and vote taken to accept Gregg Gerdau's changes to award submission.  Vote passed.

Summer camp has 3 scouts signed up so far (James V, James S, John P.)  Some question about high adventure.  For high adventure - camp Bonner is independent slots.  Only need to take 1 scout and do not need to provide adults.  3 separate programs.  US small boat sailing certification - 6 days of concentrated sailing experience.  sea kayak - never at sea base.  Head out to Pamlico Sound and camp at different campsites every night.  come back for last campfire.  3rd is iron man - really heavy duty physically.

Other weeks for high adventure are available, but troop won't be there.  Daniel can't go to main camp due to schedule conflict.

John Risk:
ABC-sale - troops longest standing service project.  We handle parking lot (for 16 years).  weekend of Apr 21.  Sunday before, take in donations.  Saturday is all day sale.  Big attic/basement/closet sale.
Need adults and older boys to handle parking lot.  Also, older boys can help carry stuff to cars.
Second responsibility is for cleanup, starting at about 2:00.  Carry stuff to parking lot to be given to charity after completion of sale.  All sales are donated to community, church does not keep any.  Also, would like to put up a tent for scout troop.  All scouts should participate and need good parental support.  Can help with sales or other responsibilities.
