Minutes from Troop 9 Parent/Committee Meeting on Apr. 11, 2006

Meeting called to order by Dave Filpus.

Item:  Minutes from previous meeting were accepted.  (Thank you Trish)

Item:  No treasurer's report.   Recharter has been completed.

Item:  Trips & Activities.  Day hiking trip to Pinnacle on 4/9/06 went well.  May's bike trip will be a 2-night local trip in conjunction with the spring Court of Honor.  Planning for the route and/or other activities is underway.    Summer camp is 7/16 through 7/22/06 at Camp Cherokee.  Activities include mountain biking, whitewater rafting and backpacking.  First payment is due soon.

Item:  Uniforms.  No uniform changes.

Item:  Program.  There is an outing planned for 4/30/06 to Jordan Lake to satisfy Forestry Merit Badge requirements.  Contact Wendy Painter for details.

Item:  Construction at the church will probably begin in spring 2008 and last approximately 15 months.

Item:   Recruiting.  There is a community awareness event at University Mall on Sat. 4/22---discussion followed concerning having a display at this.  If someone has the time this might be a good idea however, it was decided that there would be more exposure by making signs for our open house meeting in May and helping at the ABC sale at the church the following Saturday.

Item:  The troop will participate in the ABC sales at the church instead of attending the spring camporee.  The sale runs from 9 a.m. -- 2 p.m. on Saturday, 4/29.  Help will be needed in the following areas:  1) to make signs to put up in the church the week before the sale, 2) to set up the canopy on Friday night--contact John Risk, 3) to put on final touches beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, 4) to help customers and manage access to the parking lot during the sale, 5) to help with cleanup which begins around 1:30 p.m. and should last for 2 hours--this includes taking down signs, recycling cardboard, preparing leftovers for offsite donation.

Item:  The meeting on 4/25 will be held at the Painters' house.  Directions will be made available for those needing them.
