In Attendance:

Meeting called to order by Dave Filpus.

Item:  A letter from a former Troop 9 member, J.R. Dennison of Mendon, Utah had been discovered tacked to the bulletin board.  The letter will be given to Daniel Ripperton to post to the web site and maintained in the troop archives.

Item:  Minutes from previous meeting were accepted.

Item:  Treasurer's report.  Current balance is $3,828.15.  Charter fees of approximately $360.00 are due to be paid.  Also, trip fees for South Mountain and Shenandoah Park are to be reimbursed along with mileage.

Item:  Trips & Activities.  Day hike at Pinnacles of the Dan, VA is scheduled for April 8.  Hike will be approximately 6-8 miles and is “very vertical”.  Summer camp at Old North State Council’s Camp Cherokee near Yanceyville, NC is scheduled for July 16-22.  Camp fee is $217.  A deposit of $90 is due by April 25; balance due by June 27.  High Adventure opportunities are also available at a higher cost.  Information about a provisional week will be made available.  This option costs an additional $150 and requires a separate application.

Item: Troop Equipment.  The troop received a donation of various supplies including solid fuel tablets, solid fuel stoves, propane lantern, propane canisters, etc, from Mr and Mrs Dalbey of Chapel Hill.

Item:  Uniforms.  Four or five uniforms are on hand in the closet.  An option to turn these over to Goodling Outfitters in exchange for store credit was discussed.  The troop could then make this credit available to new scouts to obtain uniform items.

Item:  Program. Scouts are working on the Pioneering merit badge tonight.  Reminders are being given to Scouts to turn in paperwork for the Traffic Safety merit badge.  A trip to the Educational Forest to work on the Forestry merit badge is being planned for April 29 (approximately 2.5 hour program).  Wilderness Survival program was offered this past weekend.  Currently looking for someone to handle Fingerprinting merit badge or possibly Chemistry merit badge.

Item:   Church Reconstruction.  Plans for the church reconstruction have now been made available.  Current meeting place will be razed for new construction; need to determine alternate meeting place when this occurs.  Possibilities include Holy Family Church, Saint Benedict Anglican Church (Weaver Dairy Road), and Grace Church (Sage Road).  May want to consider meeting with another small troop during that period.  Temporary storage space for troop equipment will be needed.

Item: Recruiting.  We received no return call from Webelos leader.  John Risk will follow up.  Scouts should be reminded about the recruiting patch to encourage extending invitations to friends.  Tricia Clemens will look into placing an announcement in the St. Thomas More bulletin.

Item: Troop Elections.  The troop needs to hold elections for senior patrol leader within next two weeks as well as needs to hold O/A elections.

The meeting was adjourned.
