Minutes from Troop 9 Parent/Committee Meeting on December 13, 2005
In Attendance:
Dave Filpus, Tom Hock, George Painter, Deb Miles, Wayne Vanderburg, Mike Miles, Trisha Clemens, Dave Scocca
Meeting called to order by Dave Filpus.
Item: Dave Filpus received the budgeted $100 support from the church. Thank you very much.
Item: Minutes from previous meeting were accepted.
Item: The hiking trip to Uwharrie went well. They had good
weather. Details for caving trip are still being worked out. The
caving trip has been delayed to February.
Item: Program. Everything is still on course. Need to
get up with Luke to finish Pioneering. Scouts are working well on
rank advancements. Need to schedule service hours project in
community.
Item: New First Class Requirement. Scouts currently working
on this rank have until June 1, 2006 to complete using old
requirements. The new requirement goes into effect on January 1,
2006 and states that the scout must attempt to recruit another boy into
scouting. Details are in the new handbook. Exact wording was
emailed after the meeting,
“Tell someone who is eligible to join Boy Scouts, or an inactive
Boy Scout, about your troop’s activities. Invite him to a troop
outing, activity, service project, or meeting. Tell him how to join, or
encourage the inactive Boy Scout to become active.”
Item: Movie night. This Webelos recruitment activity
is scheduled for January 17, 2006 at 7 p.m. The meeting that
night will begin at 6:50 p.m. Discussion followed concerning
parking--possibly reimbursing guests who need to park in the
planatarium parking lot or holding spots with our cars and then moving
them.
Item: Wesley's eagle court of honor went well. He is currently working toward his palms.
