Committee Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, January 11, 2005

In attendance:  Dave Filpus, Tom Hock, George Painter, Wendy Painter, Lisa Ripperton, Gail Risk, John Risk, Dave Scocca, Wayne Vanderburg, Rose Wignall.

Prior month minutes: The December 2004 minutes were approved. All prior minutes are posted on the web site. If you have any changes, please let Dave Filpus know as we do want these notes to be as accurate as possible. If you e-mail directly to the web site, Dave Filpus will receive the corrections.

A new recording secretary is still needed.  Dave Scocca is taking the minutes this month.

Treasurer's Report:  We have a current balance of $5882.29.  We have not yet provided reimbursement for gas expenses on any trips this year.

Schedule and trips: The Grandfather Mountain trip for the coming weekend need to be changed because of leader illness.  We are changing the plan to camp at the Risks', with an opportunity for the Scouts to work on orienteering and pioneering.

Wayne is working on finding other troops interested in scheduling a trip to the Vertical Edge.  This is still tentatively scheduled for February 11.

Tom Hock will organize the caving trip for Scouts 14 and older in February.

Uniforms:  We have a supply of uniform parts available; contact Gail or John Risk.

Advancement:  Wendy reported that the plan is to work on Pioneering and on basic Tenderfoot through First Class advancement work during the spring. Dave Filpus said that to be awarded at the Court of Honor merit badge work needs to be completed by January 25th.

Recruiting:  We will have an open house for second-year Webelos during the troop meeting on Tuesday, February 8th.  Wayne Vandenburg will take flyers to Roundtable, and Rose will share flyers with a few Webelos 2 dens.  Dave Scocca will put announcements into Crossings about the open house.  Note that Scout Sunday is February 6th.

There will be a Court of Honor on February 1, and Boards of Review towards the end of January.
