Committee Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, November 9, 2004
In attendance: Dave Filpus, Tom Hock, Alfred Avery, Wendy Painter, Lisa Ripperton, John Risk, Dave Scocca, Wayne and Mary Anne Vanderburg.
Prior month minutes: Minutes from September 2004 were approved. The October 12 parents meeting was canceled due to a Court of Honor.
A new recording secretary is still needed. Mary Anne Vanderburg took minutes this month.
All prior minutes are posted on the web site. If you have any changes, please let Dave Filpus know as we do want these notes to be as accurate as possible. If you e-mail directly to the web site, Dave Filpus will receive the corrections.
Treasurers Report: Lisa Ripperton reported no change in balance of $5,009.84.
Uniforms: Gail Risk is willing to be the new uniform coordinator.
Trips: The Bison patrol had an overnight bike trip Nov. 6-7, when the Eagle patrol had an afternoon outing at the Vertical Edge. The Panther patrol is planning an overnight trip to Carolina Beach on Nov. 20-21.
The Mount Rogers trip will be Dec. 4-5. The group will leave at 6 a.m. on Saturday and return at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Plan for very cold weather.
Advancement: Wendy Painter reported that work was nearing completion on the personal management badge. Communications badge work was scheduled for Nov. 16. She said the next badge will be Pioneering which will help the younger Scouts master the basics.
Recruiting: Wayne Vanderburg said he would contact Cub masters and deliver flyers individually and at the Roundtable in January. Chapel of the Cross is getting a new youth minister who has just completed walking the Appalachian Trail. It was agreed to invite him to speak at the Jan. 18 meeting and to invite potential Scouts to attend.
New Business: There will be a Life Board of Review for Wesley Painter on Nov. 30.
Information was shared about a high adventure camp in North Carolina, which the boys may want to attend next summer. Boys must be age 14 to attend.
Wayne Vanderburg reported on popcorn sales and there was a lengthy discussion of how to handle proceeds from this years sale and whether to continue the sale next year.
