Troop 9
Parent’s Committee Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, April 20, 2004
In attendance: Dave Scocca, John
Risk, Tom Hock, Dave Filpus, Luke Cathell, Wayne Vanderburg, Wendy
Painter
Prior month minutes: The March 2004 minutes were reviewed and approved. All prior minutes are posted on the web site. If you have any changes, please let Dave Filpus know as we do want these notes to be as accurate as possible. If you e-mail directly to the web site, Dave Filpus will receive the corrections.
Treasurer’s report: None.
Troop
trips: April 23th – 25th Spring
Camporee at Camp New Hope. Departing at 5:30 on Friday evening
and returning around 11:00 on Sunday. The swim test for summer
camp is that Sunday afternoon. Logistics for taking care of returning
from camporee and getting to the Sportsplex has proven too difficult.
We will do swim tests at Summer Camp.
Summer Camp: July 11th - 17th Camp Cherokee - Seven boys and three adults have signed up. In addition to the camp cost, we will collect $12 for a camp t-shirt for each boy. The troop will buy t-shirts for the adults.
Uniforms: Uniforms have been
purchased for troop inventory. Please let Sarah Mason know if you need
anything.
Merit
Badges: The boys have completed Citizenship in the World and
are starting Citizenship in the Community. The boys will be attending
and reporting on a public hearing in the Chapel Hill Town Hall at 7 pm
on Wednesday May 12th. Any boy that cannot attend that meeting can
attend another public hearing in
the Chapel Hill Town Hall at
7 pm on Monday May 17th.
Recruiting: Our efforts have paid
off – the web site, flyers, personnel invitations have succeeded in
getting more interest. We have two new members with two more
possibilities. Tom Hock was asked to schedule a Webelos campout
as part to the regular schedule for 2004-2005.
Other Business: Mike Barber's Eagle
is complete and in council's hands. A Board of Review will be held soon
and a Court of Honor, probably this summer.
The next Parent Meeting will take place on May 11th, 2004.
