Parentís Committee Meeting

Minutes

October 14, 2003

 

 

In attendance:  Lisa Ripperton, Sarah Mason, Dave Scocca, Jimmy Workman, George Painter, Wendy Painter, Dave Filpus, John Risk, Linda Boucher, Alfred Avery,  Jane Hock and Nancy Barber - a quorum of at least five people.

 

Prior Month minutes - The Sept 2003 minutes are posted on the web.  If you have changes, please let Dave Filpus know as we do want these notes to be as accurate as possible.

 

Treasurerís report - We have a current balance of $4,815.51.  Several boys have outstanding dues and these will be collected in time.

 

Patrol Trips -

• One patrol trip has occurred.  If the boys intend to go on the staff trip - caving, they are required to have had a patrol trip.

 

Uniforms -

• Sarah Mason offered to restock the inventory.  There was a motion and an approval to designate $500 toward the fund. 

 

Merit Badges

• Citizenship in the Nation - Luke will be coming to the next meeting to check off the requirements for the scouts.
• Knot tying  - will begin next
• Cooking - Jesse will ask an older scout to help guide the rest of this badge.  Approximately half of the requirements have been met.
• Nov 1^st Merit Badge College - a reminder a call and ask if space is available.  Chestnut Ridge is near Efland.  Generally, the majority of a badge can be accomplished in one day.

 

Recruiting -

Two fliers have been printed.  Each attendee is asked to post the fliers in an appropriate place.

A suggestion for a competition for signatures on the fliers was an idea to be considered.

Distribution to the Webelos leaders at round table

Libraries

Churches w/o scout troops

Church bulletin information

Boy Scout Sunday - for distribution of the fliers

District list serve for scout masters

Schools when permitted

 

Gearing several meetings toward new scouts - without over doing the ìpushî - may help us capture the interest of new scouts.

 

Eagle projects -            

Joe Johnstonís board of review went well and the paperwork is on its way.  The ceremony has been scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving between 2 until 4. 

 

New Business

Consider having B nights - a scout T shirt - perhaps one day during the month and for campouts.
