Spring Camporee
- Camp Cherokee in Yanceyville - April 25-27. Currently
eight boys plan to attend. Dave
Filpus went to the camp several weeks. The
trip takes approximately 1 - hours. There
are several concerns -
The
camp would like 4 adults to assist in the camp check-in.There
are no trailers available to move the gear into the camp.Having
adults available to check in, supervise the scouts and move the vehicles
will be appreciated.
Thursday
night, family night.The camp encourages
each troop to picnic at their camping sites on family night. We'll
need to know who might intend to come to the camp and if alternative meal
plans should be made.
Class
A Uniforms are required at evening
meals.Please contact Dave Filpus,
John Risk or Sarah Mason if you have questions or if your son needs to
complete his uniform.The troop is
judged on its presentation and we want to give our effort best to meet
the expectations.
-
Bike Trip - May
24 - 26 - In the past the trip has taken the boys on a 50 mile ride to
Kerr Lake. Last year the trip
was cut back to 38 miles. John
Risk has offered us an alternative trip from the west side of Carrboro
to his home. The exact
route is still in the planning process. A
court of honor could be held around a camp fire that evening. Hopefully
families would be able to attend and enjoy the evening.
Leadership Changes
for next year -
-
Tom Hock will be scoutmaster
-
Dave Filpus will serve as board chairman
-
John Risk will participate as a board
member
We
applaud the past accomplishments and appreciate the time, effort and energy
that each of these leaders has given and now commits to the troop.
Thank
you for all that you have done and continue to do for our children.
