Parent's Committee Meeting
Minutes
February 11, 2003
In attendance:Richard
Davis, Linda Joseph, Mike Byerley, Sarah Mason, Lisa Ripperton, John Risk,
Wendy Painter, Dave Scocca - a quorum of at least seven people.
Friends of Scouting
Campaign - Mike Byerley,
District Executive of Orange District asked for our support of the campaign
and explained how our children benefit.Friends
of Scouting supports approximately 16000 cub, boy and venture scout troops.20%
of the eligible youth in Orange Co participate in scouting.The
organization supports 3 camps.Their
goal is to raise $32,000 - $12,000 from businesses, $6000 from the community
and $14,000 from the families.A
current year estimate of $120 per scout is needed to meet the expenses
of the organization.

Treasurer's report
- Lisa Ripperton - no significant
change.Balance as of the November
minutes $3,604.93.

Risk will send an email asking parents and scouts to volunteer their time
- probably in two hour shifts between 7:00 am and 2:00 pm. Primary responsibilities
- parking lot entrance and clean up.
Advancements -

a chart of badges is now posted in
the scout room

parent participation is needed to
help review requirements and sign off for the boy's achievements

Citizenship in the Community was suggested
as the next merit badge for the scouts to pursue - George Painter has offered
to help
