Weekly meetings
·Troop
attendance - smaller group of boys have been attending the meetings. There
is a gap in the ages. The older
boys have conflicts but should be encouraged to attend. We
need a good recruiting year - perhaps an additional 8 to 10 boys could
join the troop and preferably between the ages of 11 and 14.
For
camping we questioned whether the information is getting back to the parents.Expectations
should be set by the parents encouraging the boys to attend.
The
real experience of the troop is camping and this is seen as our best selling
point.
A
suggestion - If a child commits to a camping trip, the fees should be collected
in advance. If that child drops out
at the last minute - at the discretion of the scout master, a portion of
the fee should be kept in the troop.
·Hanging
Rock State Park trip has been moved to March
·An
alternative trip was planned at the Risk's new home but subsequently this
was canceled as well.
·Advancement
Issues - Wendy Potter. We need to
decide as a group what badges to pursue. There
needs to be a way to check on the scout's progress - perhaps a poster showing
the advancements.The cooking merit
badge is in the process. We need
adult supervision when possible.
Merit
Badge colleges should be encouraged - sponsored through the council
Personal
Management requires a 90 day chart kept by the scouts.
·There
will not be a December meeting
