Parent's Committee Meeting
Minutes
October 8, 2002
In attendance:Nancy
Barber, John Risk, Luke Cathell, John Dunkle, Dave Filpus, Lisa Ripperton,
Michael Potter, Alfred Daza-Hines - a quorum of 7 people.
Prior meeting minutes

Treasurer's report
- Lisa Ripperton-
a current balance of $3,604.93.Current
year dues of $60 for each scout are being collected.
Review of Scout
Activities -
-
South Mountain Trip October 18th
- the scouts can check out a tent or take their own. Consider
making plastic ground clothes for the tents. Prepare
for cool weather
Eagle Advancements
-
-
Daniel Potter - all merit badges and
a project has been completed - application for scout master conference
to be completed.

Austin Painter - all merit badges
and project has been completed - application for scout master conference
to be completed.

Joe Johnston - continuing to complete
project
-
Michael Barber - more merit badges
are needed and a project needs to be planned
-
Greg Filpus - 5 merit badges short
and a project needs to be planned.
There is a scholarship
available for scouts who have completed their eagle by the end of the year.

Weekly meetings
·The
planning of weekly programs by the scouts - Daniel has done an exceptional
job of organizing the lessons and assigning the “teacher helpers.”But,
the individual groups teaching haven't always had enough information to
fill fifteen minutes.
New
Business -
-
The district has agreed to help the
Marines collect during the Toys For Tots program. New
unwrapped gifts with a minimum of $5 value. A
volunteer is needed from within our troop to organize the collection points
and deliver the contributions to the Marines.

The Food Bank, the church ABC sale
and the set up of Christmas trees at UNC are possible volunteer opportunities
within our troop
-
Cape Look Out - Nov. 8-10. A
nominal fee from each scout to cover transportation to the island and food
for the weekend will be requested. A
good count of the number of boys attending will be needed to reserve the
ferry.
