Troop 9 Leadership Roles

For Star, Life and Eagle, a boy needs to serve in a troop office, for a certain time period. Each troop officer is expected to attend meetings regularly, attend outings and play a role model for the younger boys. Each office has a definite job description defined in the BSA literature. In troop 9, the following actions are deemed necessary to the given office. To be considered active in the troop office, a boy must fulfil these functions.

Senior Patrol Leader

Assign scouts for opening and lead closing. Manage the nightís agenda and ongoing instructional process.

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader

Take over SPL role when he is not present.

Patrol Leader

Keep order in patrol during meetings. Assure that each boy going on the trip has tenting and food, whether the patrol leader is going or not.

Quartermaster

Keep the camping equipment closet neat and clean. Manage the use of the troop tents and other equipment.

Librarian

Keep the troop office neat and clean. Manage the use of troop merit badge pamphlets. Mark out of date merit badge pamphlets clearly.

Scribe

Write letters for the troop. Keep the bulletin board up to date.

Historian

Assist the troop webmaster with the troop history on the web-site. Each week, include some interestng fact from the troop history in the opening or closing of the meeting.

Bugler

Learn the bugle and some calls. Use same for flag ceremonies out of doors.
