Bolos
The troop wears a troop bolo instead of a neckerchief. The bolo is part
of the Class A uniform. The slide is the troop logo (above). The cord
for
the tie comes in different colors, which designates the type of bolo.
The
boy is to wear his bolo to meetings and especially to Courts of Honor
and
other events where the troop is out in public. If a boy does not have
his
bolo at a dress event, he may borrow a purple bolo for that event only.
For long term events, the troop will provide navy bolos for the
duration
of the trip for troop uniformity. Lost bolos need to be replaced at $8
each. Extra bolos may be purchased at $8 each.
The scout will receive his first (black) bolo at his first Court
of Honor after attending a troop trip and attaining Scout. Then, as he
goes on troop trips and summer camp, he will get
credit toward the successive bolo, which will be awarded at troop
meetings or Court of Honor as earned. Each weekend trip counts for one
trip.
Summer camp and other week long events count for two trips. Any trips
in
Boy Scouting outside of the troop counts for up to five trips total.
This
includes Order of the Arrow, second weeks at summer camp, trips taken
with
other troops, etc.
