Boy Scout Troop 9 and Webelos II

15-16 December 2007

 

Description

 

            This trip will extend invitations to local Webelo II Scouts to complete either one of the following Arrow of Light requirements

 

This trip will include camping Saturday evening in Vista Point Group Campsite #5, at Jordan Lake State Recreation. A day hike is planned for Saturday on 2 trails. The Red Trail at Vista Point is a 3-mile loop through some beautiful pines and mixed hardwood forests. The Blue Trail at Vista Point is little over 1 mile and loops past an old Tobacco Barn. This trip will include working on rank advancement and/or merit badges – TBD

Saturday evening will include a troop lead Astronomy Session.

 

NOTICE:

Due to a statewide burning ban, wood fires and open charcoal fires are NOT PERMITTED in state parks. Gas and propane cookstoves are allowed as are charcoal fires within grills or containers with a covering or lid. All stoves and charcoal grills must be attended by an adult.

            CHANGE IN PICKUP LOCATION FOR SUNDAY, Dec. 16th:

Due to church services at Chapel of the Cross the pickup location has been changed to University Mall parking lot. Please meet in the parking lot outside of DillardÕs (on Estes Road side). See time schedule below.

Personal Equipment

 

Bring normal car camping equipment.  Since this is a public troop activity, we prefer that the troop tents be used.

 

Food and Group Equipment

 

            Food and group equipment will be coordinated at the troop meetings. There will be one breakfast (Sunday), one lunch (Saturday) and one dinner (Saturday) during camp.

 

Water

 

Water should be available at the campground. Water is turned off in the winter and based upon temperatures.

 

Driving Route

 

            Directions to Jordan Lake, Vista Point:

 

 

From here, you continue on the same road until you reach our campsite on the lake. The road name changes, but you do not make any turns.
